The twelfth edition met in the Kerkzaal of the Doopsgezinde Kerk, in the centre of Groningen. Its programme names the network itself as co-organizer, alongside seven participating universities, and it switched to a tighter format than earlier editions: 45 minutes per paper — 30 to present, 5 for the discussant and 10 for discussion.
Twelve papers brought speakers from the World Bank, LSE, MIT Sloan, Nova School of Business and Economics and Universitat Pompeu Fabra together with researchers from across the Dutch universities. They covered crop insurance, slum upgrading in the Dominican Republic, the political legacies of trade liberalization in Brazil, land markets in Uganda and Kenya, menstrual health at work, child marriage, aspirations, e-money, jobs and political participation in Ethiopia, universal basic income in Kenya, evidence use among civil servants in Pakistan and trust in public services.
The local organizing team was Kristina Czura, Robert Lensink and Kritika Saxena. The workshop was jointly organized and co-sponsored by the network and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Utrecht University, Tilburg University, the University of Groningen, Nijmegen University, UNU-MERIT and Wageningen University.
