For its tenth edition the workshop came to Amsterdam, hosted at the Tinbergen Institute, with the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam joining Tilburg and Wageningen as co-sponsor. Nine papers covered aid fragmentation and conflict, mobile-phone monitoring in Niger, free university tuition in Ecuador, health care during Sierra Leone’s Ebola outbreak, payment technology, community natural-resource management in Namibia, crop insurance bundles in Kenya, management consulting in Colombia and schooling for displaced children in Jordan.
The workshop closed with Peter Lanjouw on How Lives Change: Palanpur, India, and Development Economics, drawn from the long-running study of a single village in north India. That same afternoon, Jenny Aker also presented at the Tinbergen Institute’s labor seminar series.
The workshop was co-sponsored by the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (School of Business and Economics), the Tinbergen Institute, Tilburg University (Department of Economics) and Wageningen University (Development Economics Group).
